She Went Away
Oh, and the title Idol Poet for the blog is inspired by Soren Kierkegaard's comment, "Poetry is idolatry refined." Like the above blog intro sez...
Here's my first poetic (actually more like lyrical) entry here. You explain it.
--
She Went Away
She cursed him for his loving her
She abhorred him for his faith
She denied his every gentle kiss
Chaotic heart a haunted wraith
He wept and begged her to stay
But there was nothing he could say
She went away
She went away
She went away
She went out into the darkness
Where her lovers promised red desire
She fell down into the loneliness
The commercial wink of lust for hire
He wept and begged her to stay
But there was nothing he could say
She went away
She went away
She went away
Two small children raising up their arms
Two tiny voices weeping in alarm
Mommy won’t you stay
Please mommy please don’t go away!
She went today
She went away
The noise of life drowns out truth
The chaos lovers’ desperate dance
She’s in the arms of her or him or them
Making love to time plus chance
Sin’s secret is the saddest one
Scratch hard but never reach that itch
She’s left them all their suffering
But love remains to make the final pitch
He wept and begged her to stay
But there was nothing he could say
She went away
She went away
She went away
